Junior School

The holiday period passed by quickly and it’s exciting that another school year at Ormiston is underway. I hope that all families had a very happy Christmas and New Year break and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful weather. It has been wonderful to hear the many different holiday stories from families and students and it has been terrific to see so many happy, relaxed and refreshed students across all year levels.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new students and families that have started this year. I wish each student all the best for a productive year and I look forward to working closely with you for many years to come.

I would also like to recognise our Foundation girls for settling in so well. I know the girls have been a little exhausted towards the end of the week but they have been extrememly motivated and enthusiastic.

I would like to thank each family that took time out of their busy schedule to attend our Meet The Teacher Evenings on Tuesday and Thursday this week. It was an excellent opportunity for families to hear from our Principal, Mrs Debbie Dunwoody in regards to current and future developments. One of the clear messages of the evening was to tell the School community that the Junior School theme for 2016 will be ‘The Year of the Growth Mindset’.

I would like to remind parents and students that a new staff leadership structure has been in action since the beginning of this year. Our new staffing structure was communicated to the School community towards the end of last year.

Our new leadership structure for 2016 is:

Mrs Debbie Dunwoody / Principal

Mr Paul Donohue / Head of Junior School

Ms Kate Giles / Deputy Head of Junior School (Teaching, Learning and Innovation)

Mr Craig Goodwin / Deputy Head of Junior School (Student Wellbeing)

Ms Angela / Follacchio Early Learning Team Leader

Ms Emma Hinchliffe / Digital Learning Leader
